Why Homeowners Should Hire a Licensed CBC

For virtually all residential construction projects in Florida, a CBC has the full scope of authority needed to manage your project from permit application through final inspection. The CBC's license is tied to their DBPR record, giving you clear recourse through state channels if the work is deficient. They can also legally pull all building permits required for your project and are responsible for ensuring code compliance.

What to Look for When Hiring

  • Active "CBC" prefix on their license number
  • Experience specifically in your project type (residential is very different from commercial)
  • Adequate insurance: $300,000+ GL and active WC
  • Strong local references from completed residential projects
  • Detailed written proposals with itemized costs
  • Willingness to pull permits and provide inspection documentation
